Interesting Piece of information

>> Monday, December 28, 2009

"As mentioned in “Entrepreneur” magazine, 50% of Americans make a New Year's resolution [for weight loss]—which explains statistics like a 99% jump in web visits to WeightWatchers.com in January—but 25% of people fail these resolutions after just one week."

Don't be a part of that 25%. Seriously, contact me: herbaltang@gmail.com if you are interested in losing weight, I don't bite. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have for me! Herbalife is the real deal. And I don't say that just because I'm in love with the products. It has changed my life and my mother's life.

FAT!

1 They’re doing something right out West. Sixty-six percent of Americans are overweight or obese, with the national obesity rate doubling between 1976 and 1999. But as of 2007, California was the only state not getting any fatter.

2 The root of the problem? Depending on gender and how active they are, adults should eat 2,000 to 3,000 calories per day. U.S. agriculture now produces 3,900 calories of food per inhabitant per day.

3 People who regularly eat dinner or breakfast in restaurants double their risk of becoming obese.

4 Being overweight reduces a woman’s chances of getting pregnant.

5 The National Institutes of Health believes obesity is one of the reasons why the fastest-growing group of women experiencing infertility are those under 25.

6 We’re trying. Each year nearly $50 billion is spent on diet programs.

7 People who lose just 10 percent of their weight report significant improvement in their sex lives.

8 Biology is trying to help too. Leptin is a hunger-slaking hormone pumped into the bloodstream by fat cells. The more fat you have, the more leptin you make and the less hungry you feel.

9 Want to get your hands on some leptin? The hormone never panned out as a diet aid because most overweight people have become insensitive to it.

10 Over the course of a year, about 10 percent of an adult’s fat cells die. Alas, the body promptly replaces them.

11 The total number of fat cells in your body remains constant once you reach adulthood. Even after radical weight-loss procedures such as stomach stapling, fat cells return to their presurgery numbers within two years.

12 Try the vacuum instead. Liposuction is the only way to actually reduce the number of fat cells in your spare tire. Diet and exercise just shrink them.

13 New Zealander Pete Bethune gave a whole new meaning to biofuel when he used his liposuctioned fat to power the world’s fastest eco-boat. A way to solve the obesity epidemic and the fuel crisis?

14 It may make you prettier, but not healthier. Liposuction doesn’t remove fat from around the internal organs, so your fat-related health risks are unchanged.

15 Blame Mom and Dad. Obesity is more heritable than schizophrenia, high blood pressure, and alcoholism.

16 Cutting saturated fat intake to the recommended 10 percent of your calories will prolong your life, but only by a few months at most, researchers found.

17 The brain is about 70 percent fat.

18 Bottlenose dolphins use fatty tissue in the head, concentrated in an organ called the melon, to focus sound waves, giving them their sonar ability.

19 Think you have a spare tire? Whales are wrapped in fat—a thick layer of blubber—as vital insulation against the cold. Some whales have a blubber layer up to 20 inches thick.

20 Camels have the opposite problem: Living in hot climates, they want as little heat-trapping insulation as possible, so they concentrate their fat in their humps.

Million Pound Weight Loss Challenge

>> Monday, April 6, 2009

The total weight loss is now: 34, 247 pounds!! Keep sending in your weight loss results to: http://www.herbalifemillionpoundmission.com/

On to other non-herbalife news, it is officially spring time. Even though its mostly April showers, and a lot of crazy weather changing, its really really nice! I have been really great. I went on a walk yesterday on a trail since the weather was so lovely. And today i played volleyball. And tomorrow I'm going to play some other sort of sport or exercise, but I don't know what yet.

School has been.. going slowly.. but I am closely finishing up my second year of college! Working on a religion paper: about theravada and mahyana buddhism and their views on the ecological issues of today's society. Its really interesting, I think more than ever, I do not have a religion but more of a spirituality of sorts. Easter break is also coming up, but that won't be a break, more of a time to catch up and finish projects due right after easter brk.

Anyways its getting late, I'm gunna read some, and then sleep.

Day 1

>> Monday, March 16, 2009

My goal is to go from 130 to 115 pounds! I decided it's a huge challenge to lose weight in college. So this is for me to see and be the experiment on how I can help college students lose weight from using Herbalife products!

Today I drank a shake for breakfast as well as dinner. That picture is a bad pic of me but whatever. That's my awesome single serve blender with my cafe latte shake in it! hahaha. Its really yummy! I just finished drinking one for dinner. Ok so im gunna do a bit of predicting. I think one of the most difficult parts about this diet at college thing. Is the sheer fact that the taste and "goodness" of the foods change so much.. that I won't eat enough for lunch. And that is a problem because my plan is to have two meal-replacement shakes for a meal and a good balanced lunch! I think it will be great because I am also dieting w/ my friend Linh! She is also using Herbalife products.

Hopefully, this week will be calm and such. I'm really hoping that I finish and get an A on one of my big fashion industry projects! I have been working my butt off for it and I just hope my hardwork pays off. And I have an exam on Friday. And garment review for the fashion show is next week so I need to finish up knitting my skirt and pants, to enter and hopefully they will be accepted into the show.

Anyways, thats all folks!

P.S. I have a twitter so follow me!

Day 4

>> Monday, December 29, 2008

I've lost 4 Pounds!! I'm really excited. I have been keeping up with the two shakes a day, and taking 3 tablets a day and eating a filling meal at lunchtime. I really feel great. I will start kickboxing tomorrow, to add an extra kick to my diet, literally.

Personally, I have a major sweet tooth, so when I'm craving something sweet I just drink a peach mango drink. It is so yummy, and tasty. It also satisfies your hunger and its only 70 calories. It's one of my favorite drinks, I really recommend it .. just for the taste. It also comes in the wild berry flavor. Click on the picture below to get more information.

The Importance of Water

Health Report - Water, How 8 Glasses a Day Keeps the Fat Away

Incredibly as it may seem, water is quite possibly the single, most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off. Although most of us take it for granted, water may be the only true "magic potion" for permanent weight loss.

Water suppresses the appetite and helps the body metabolize stored fat. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.

Got to Fill those Kidneys

Here's why. The kidneys cannot function properly without enough water. When they do not work to capacity, some of the load is dumped onto the liver. One of the liver’s primary functions is to metabolize stored fat into usable energy for the body. But if the liver has to do some of the kidney’s work, it cannot work at full throttle. As a result, it metabolizes less fat; more fat remains stored in the body and weight loss stops.

Shed Water with Water

Drinking enough water is the best treatment for fluid retention. When the body gets less water, it perceives this a threat to survival and begins to hold on to every drop. Water is stored in extra cellular spaces (outside the cells). This shows up as swollen feet, hands and legs. Diuretics offer a temporary solution at best. They force out stored water along with some essential nutrients. Again, the body perceives a threat and will replace the lost water at the first opportunity. Thus, the condition quickly returns. The best way to overcome the problem of water retention is to give your body what it needs – plenty of water. Only then will stored water to be released. If you have a constant problem with water retention, excess salt may be to blame. Your body will tolerate sodium only in certain concentrates.

The more salt you eat, the more water your system retains to dilute it. But getting rid of unneeded salt is easy – just drink more water. As it is forced through the kidneys, it takes away excess sodium.

The overweight person needs more water than the thin one. Larger people have larger metabolic loads. Since we know that water is the key to fat metabolism, it follows that the overweight person needs more water.

Water helps maintain proper muscle tone by giving muscles their natural ability to contract and by preventing dehydration. It also helps prevent the sagging skin that usually follows weight loss. Shrinking cells are buoyed by water which plumps the skin and leaves it clear, health and resilient.

Water helps rid the body of waste. During weight loss, the body has a lot more waste to get rid of – all that metabolized fat must be shed. Again, adequate water helps flush out the waste.

Water Relieves Constipation

Water can help relieve constipation. When the body gets to little water, it siphons what it needs from internal sources. The colon is one primary source. Result? Constipation. But, when a person drinks enough water, normal bowel function returns.

So far, we have discovered some remarkable truths about water and about weight loss. The body will not function properly without enough water and cannot metabolize stored fat efficiently. Retained water shows up as excess weight. To get rid of excess water you must drink more water. Drinking water is essential to weight loss. How much water is enough? On the average, a person should drink eight (8oz) glasses every day. However, the overweight person needs one additional glass for every 25 1bs of excess weight. The amount that you drink should be increased if you exercise or if the weather is hot and dry. To utilize water most efficiently during weight loss, follow this schedule:

Morning:
One quart consumed over a thirty-minute period.

Noon: One quart consumed over a thirty-minute period.

Evening: One quart consumed in the early evening between 5:00 & 8:00pm

When the body gets the water it needs to functions optimally, its fluids are perfectly balanced. When this happens you have reached the “breakthrough point”. What does this mean? Endocrine gland functions improves. Fluid retention is alleviated as stored water is lost. More fat is used to fuel because the liver is free to metabolize stored fat. Natural thirst returns. There is a loss of hunger almost over night. If you stop drinking enough water, your body fluids will be thrown out of balance again and you may experience fluid retention, unexplained weight gain and loss of thirst. To remedy this situation you have to go back and force another breakthrough.
