What the World eats!

This is pretty cool, i just found this on the times magazine site, and it has pictures of all the food that each family eats in a span of one week, and how much they spend. It's pretty interesting to see modernized countries versus the unmodernized countries.
Family from the U.S. w/ chips, sodas, junk foods galore. definetely not enough vegetable or fruit intake. $341.98 per wk.
Family from Ecuador. They spend $31.55 per week for groceries. Notice how they only have natural foods and they have to feed 9 people.
Family from Chad, Africa. They spend $1.23 per week.
I know for sure that I am really greatful that I have so many choices and options in eating. It makes me feel a bit guilty because sometimes/ most of the times I complain about not having anywhere "good" to eat food. When people can only afford so much food and can only purchase food that is necessary. Honestly, the diets that we eat.. most of the modernized countries had sodas, chips, and fast food.. and it is evident in the growing obesity epidemic that this diet is not working out.
Pictures are from a book called "Hungry Planet" .
